The Rio Summit Reinforces Regional Integration

This Summit was unique since it is the first to be held in an English-speaking country, such as Guyana, which is a member of both the ACS and CARICOM. This is just one indication of how much progress we have made in creating a climate for rapprochement among the various sub-regions of the continent, since the host was not the only CARICOM country present at the meeting, but there were at least three other member countries from that group.   DETAILS

The Joy Of Living In The Caribbean

For example, in the pre-Columbian period, it is known that the Amerindian peoples loved to dance; this not only had a festive or worldly aspect, but also had a religious or spiritual value. Similarly, the Amerindians played a variety of sports, among which were Makebari, Guamajico (played especially by children) and the ball game that was played in the bateys, a rectangular space surrounded by stone posts.
