Barbados Is A Safe Place To Party
August 11-08 - Barbados has been described as “a safe destination for visitors to party and have a good time.”
That vote of confidence in the island’s ability to continue to provide a safe environment for visitors was given by Minister of Community Development and Culture, Steven Blackett, recently. He was at the time addressing a gathering of local and overseas journalists during the Barbados Tourism Authority’s Crop Over press conference at Hilton Barbados.
The Minister said Barbados’ physical beauty, complemented by the warm Bajan hospitality, made visitors feel at home as they ventured out across the island to participate in various activities.
Mr. Blackett pledged Government’s commitment to the sustainable development of Crop Over and the island’s cultural industries.
“Government is committed to the development of our cultural industries, and we have already proven that in many areas. We have products and services that are ready for the global marketplace and many of them have already found some success.” he declared.
In addition, the Minister told the visiting journalists that Crop Over played an integral role in stimulating creativity among Barbadians.
“I want to stress to you that the hallmark of Crop Over is its claim that it is more than a carnival, and indeed it is. We have some of the best music to be heard anywhere, some of the most talented performers, ingenious calypsonians and, of course, the experience of the calypso tents, the Party Monarch Competition on the East Coast and jumping in a band on Kadooment Day,” Mr. Blackett observed.
